Read the guide →Why we wrote these guides
Most people only rent storage a few times in their life. That makes it easy to pick the wrong size, pack in a way that wastes half the space, or find out too late that something should never have gone in a unit at all.
These guides answer the questions people tend to ask before they book. They are written for Blackpool and the Fylde coast, and they use real numbers from our own price list, so you can work out costs without guessing. Where a point touches on law, tax or data protection, we link to the official source rather than paraphrase it.
None of them is a sales pitch. If a garage or a spare room would suit you better, the guides say so.
Planning and choosing
Start here if you have not booked anything yet.
- What size storage unit do I need? turns square feet into something you can picture, with rough what-fits guidance for every unit and pod we offer, plus square metre conversions.

- Declutter with storage shows how to use a unit as a short holding area while you decide, rather than a place things go to be forgotten.

Questions
Are these guides only for Rock Factory customers?
No. The advice on packing, security, insurance and record-keeping applies wherever you store. The prices and unit details are ours.
Do the guides replace official advice?
No. Where tax, data protection or safety rules come up, we link to GOV.UK, HMRC, the ICO or the HSE. Always check the official guidance for your own situation.
I have read the guides and still cannot decide on a size. What now?
Send us a list or a few photos of what you want to store on WhatsApp and we will suggest a unit. You can also arrange a viewing the same way.
Which guide should a small business read?
The documents and archives guide, the security tips and the insurance guide are the most useful. Our business guides cover rates, insurance and moving a business out of home in more depth.
Prices are subject to availability. Minimum rental term: one month, then one month’s notice to leave. Electricity usage is charged separately at the supplier rate, with no markup. Business use needs prior approval. Car storage is not permitted.
