What self storage actually is
Self storage means you rent a private space, you bring your things, and you keep the access. Nobody packs for you, nobody holds your belongings in a warehouse you cannot visit. It is your space, rented by the month.
People rarely want storage for its own sake. They want something else: a spare room back, a hallway without boxes in it, a van that is not also a shed, a house sale that does not stall because the furniture has nowhere to go. Storage is just the tool that gets them there. So when you choose a unit, start with the problem you want gone, not the square footage.
At The Rock Factory that space is either a ground-floor unit, available from 1 November 2026, or, from spring 2027, a smaller pod or room on the first floor. You can see every size side by side on our unit comparison page.

Monthly figures are the weekly rent multiplied by 52 and divided by 12. We show both because a weekly price can look smaller than it is, and we would rather you budget for the real number.

How renting works

- We confirm a spaceWe check availability and suggest a size. If you are unsure, start smaller: you can swap units later, subject to availability.
- Sign upOne month's rent in advance, a security deposit equal to one month's rent, valid photo ID and a signed Direct Debit mandate.
- Move inGround-floor units from 1 November 2026. Pre-book now and your first week is free.

Month by month, not year by year
The minimum term is one month. After that you give one month's notice when you want to leave. There is no long contract to sign and no penalty for finishing early once your notice is up.
That matters more than it sounds. Most people underestimate how long they will need storage, and a few overestimate it. A rolling monthly agreement lets you be wrong in either direction without it costing you.

Access and security
- 24-hour access, so you can collect things before work, after a shift or on a Sunday night.
- Free app access to CCTV covering the entrance and the area outside the units.
- Ground-floor units with roller-shutter or security-door access, so loading is straightforward.
- Lighting, electricity and Wi-Fi already connected in every ground-floor unit.

What you can and cannot store
Furniture, boxes, paperwork, stock, tools, bikes, sports kit, seasonal decorations and most household belongings are fine.
- No cars or vehicle storage (buildings insurance).
- No fuel, gas cylinders or solvent-based chemicals in bulk unless agreed in writing.
- No cooking or hot food.

How much does self storage cost in Blackpool here?
Ground-floor units are £65 a week for 150 sq ft, £69 for 160 sq ft, £78 for 180 sq ft and £130 for the 300 sq ft two-storey unit. Smaller first-floor pods and rooms open in spring 2027 at guide prices from £10 a week.
Is there a long contract?
No. The minimum term is one month, then one month's notice to leave.
Can I get to my things at any time?
Yes. Access is 24 hours a day.
Do I need my own insurance?

No. Car storage is not permitted because of our buildings insurance.
